It was a very special day in the beautiful Hunter Valley that Nicole & Allan chose to say their “I Do’s” in front of all their family and friends. It seemed fitting as well that this day was not just any day but the day dedicated to Love and St Valentine February 14th 2014.
There was definitely a buzz in the air that this would be an exceptional event not only because of the very obvious love that the couple have for each other but the fact that the bride had completely devoted the styling of the wedding to the natural environment that they were getting married in. Thinking outside the box and being open to suggestions from our team on how to incorporate this into a venue made this wedding preparation a Florist’s dream.
Set amongst the beautiful vineyards in The Barrell Room at Peppers Creek the reception was a true compliment to the outside around them. Using the length of the room to their advantage long rectangular tables were set up and consisted of beautiful green moss featuring as the table runner, cascading over candles, logs and maison jars filled with green and white seasonal blooms down the center of the tables. Each guests’ seat was signified with a sprig of lavender delicately placed in the napkin with their name place. The roof was a twinkling sky of fairy lights and the magnificent deep fireplace was a light with hundreds of candles hanging from the chimney and scattered across the floor. With a wall of wine barrels set behind the Bridal table and plenty on hand they fit magnificently with the earthy vibe the couple were after.
Before any of this was to be explored the guests were treated to a truly memorable ceremony. Seated on a vintage collection of church pews on the hill the bridesmaids entered in soft and elegant floor length dresses carrying hand tied bouquets bound with hessian and filled with Dusty Miller, Tuber Roses, Green Hypericum Berry, Pieris, White Lisianthus, Cream David Austins, Queen Annes Lace, White Freesias, White Snapdragons. Then came Nicole; looking ethereal in her gorgeous gown, she walked down the aisle and caused everyone to stop and take a breath. She carried an exquisite bouquet similar to the birdemaids but with the subtle difference of Peach Hypericum berries. It is these subtle differences which made the most incredible difference. Not one that anyone could put their finger on but one that set Nicole apart from the rest. Reaching the end of the aisle lined with assorted jars hanging from the pew ends by natural twine Nicole and Allan pledged their love to each other.
Approaching the reception the guests were greeted with timber signs leading them every step of the way. Nicole and Allan’s style was literally burnt into every aspect of their reception with the use of laser cutting into timber to execute essential directions for the guests from table numbers to the main door notifying them of the event being held that night. Through the doors candy bar was a sea of sweets tempting guests from the moment they entered. The use of logs to create levels and depth throughout the reception was the key to this being so striking. Whilst the attention to detail was impeccable and well thought out there was a wild, overwhelming feeling that nothing was to match or be too symmetrical but somehow fit perfectly.
This is a trend that is growing more and more with wedding receptions today. What appears to be flowers and jars scattered across a table is actually a very well thought out process by the Florist but creates a warm environment at your reception where the guests don’t feel hesitant to touch and disturb the perfectly laid out table settings.
